Why are boating accidents serious matters?

Many people enjoy taking a break from the intense summer heat by heading out on the water in a boat. Unfortunately, not all of these excursions end without a tragedy. This is the case when there is an accident on the water.

If you are involved in a boating accident, you might suffer from a serious injury. This might lead to you seeking compensation from the boater who caused the crash. Understanding a few points about these crashes is imperative if you were injured in a boating accident.

Motorcycle accidents can cause catastrophic injuries

Spring is here, and many people are excited to bring their motorcycles out of winter storage. Those who enjoy motorcycles for recreation or their daily commute face risk every time they get on the road. Even if the motorcyclist is an expert rider, other drivers pose serious risk to motorcyclists. People don't always remember to look for those on motorcycles when they turn or merge.

From 2007-2011 (the most recent years with statistics available), there were between 128 and 178 fatalities on motorcycles each year. Serious injuries are also very common in car-motorcycle crashes.

Georgia law and dog bites: Who's liable?

Dogs are often referred to as man's best friend. In many cases, this old adage holds true. Dogs are often great companions and are common additions to households throughout the country. In fact, the Insurance Information Institute reports that approximately 77.8 million dogs are owned as pets in the United States.

Unfortunately, not every dog is companion material. 4.5 million people are bitten by a dog every year. Of these dog attacks, 885,000 are so serious that they require medical attention.

3 Things NOT To Do After An Accident

We have posted in the past about insurance bad faith. While we certainly don't mean to suggest that every insurance carrier is inherently evil, we want all injured individuals to take a moment to protect themselves.

Insurance policies can be complex and it is easy for policy-holders to get turned around - ultimately, doing themselves more harm than good. As experienced personal injury attorneys, we have seen numerous cases where injured people only try to follow (what they think are) the rules only to damage their cases. Here are three things that people should certainly not do unless they have a clear understanding of the consequences - or they have a skilled lawyer on their side.

Hands-Free Texting Is Safer . . . Right?

In a recent article, we discussed the results of a study that looked at how hands-free technology could positively impact distracted driving. Unfortunately, the study highlighted numerous dangers. One of the most dangerous distractions, texting, is the focal point of a new study conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.

What were they looking for? What did they find?

Hurt on the Job? Here's a Workers' Comp to-do List

People get injured. Sometimes it's because someone wasn't paying attention and sometimes it's because they simply slipped and fell. Workers have certain rights under Georgia's workers' compensation law. But the injured party must also make sure that they follow certain protocols to ensure that compensation isn't held up on a technicality or even denied.

Here's a list of what needs to be done:

Is my insurance company taking advantage of me?

You've paid insurance premiums for years or even decades with no trouble. As a valued customer, you assume that your chosen insurance company will stand beside you and fight for your best interests after a serious accident. Unfortunately, many people have found their insurance carriers to act in bad faith when it matters the most.

Your insurance company has a duty to treat you - and your claim - fairly. If your insurance claim is denied, delayed or devalued without proper investigation, it can be said that the company acted in bad faith.
